This column of Technology Today is dedicated to the many courageous and selfless nurses who serve on the front lines of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. It is bittersweet to write about the benefits gained in health care technology as a result of what we have learned through the pandemic, especially when so many have suffered and far too many have died, including nurses. The nurses we have lost were our sisters and brothers, our mothers and fathers, our daughters and sons, and our colleagues and friends. They will forever be remembered for the ultimate sacrifice they made in helping others while enduring unprecedented difficulties.
