Many of you may be familiar with the book The Five Love Languages by Dr Chapman. Have you ever speculated about how to apply these principles to your nursing unit? At work, people express and receive appreciation in different ways. The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace will demonstrate how to communicate authentic appreciation in ways that are meaningful to you and your coworkers. In alignment with the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Healthy Work Environment Meaningful Recognition standard, authentic appreciation can create a better workplace for employees. The authors identify the 5 languages (Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Acts of Service, Tangible Gifts, and Physical Touch) and how to communicate appreciation effectively in the workplace.
